Advanced Skin Care
When you see us about skin rejuvenation you will receive a facial skin assessment and advice on a personal skin regime to achieve visible results.
Our range of products help address concerns including ageing, texture, pigmentation, rosacea, acne and problem or sensitive skin. The aim is to reduce the visible signs of ageing and improve the texture and overall health of your skin. Our range of products include Aspect Dr, Aspect and Societé.
Most of our products are only available through health practitioners. We will provide you with advice and monitor your progress.
One of the main causes of skin damage and premature ageing in New Zealand is caused by sun exposure. We will provide you with sun protection advice as part of your consultation.
Skin care rejuvenation can be combined with Botox® for wrinkles and Fillers to provide volume and achieve a natural, refreshed look.
Our advanced skin care options also include peels and dermabrasion. A complete range of peels in varying strengths are available from those providing simple exfoliation to chemical peels only provided by the surgeons. Deep dermabrasion, performed by our surgeons, is also available for treatment of acne scarring.
We recommend a consultation with a nurse about general skin rejuvenation. If the nurse feels you would benefit from a more aggressive regime then you will be referred on to one of our surgeons or a Dermatologist.
For serious concerns such as acne scarring, our surgeons would be more than happy to see you.
During your consultation your skin concerns will be discussed and a history taken. Your options will be discussed including a Vitamin A based regime, peel programmes and dermabrasion if appropriate.
The Aspect Dr range is an Australian brand of clinical skincare formulated to include gold standard ingredients with proven anti-ageing qualities. Their approach, which we support, is clinical skincare without trauma and without harsh or harmful ingredients. The products are designed to be simple to use with effective results. The range includes multi-ingredient serums to target concerns.
We recommend starting with a prescription strength Vitamin A programme, applying a serum each evening, or as prescribed. Depending on skin sensitivity and assessment Vitamin B or C products can be added to your regime.
After remaining on a Vitamin A programme you can progress to a series of peels which involve increasing strengths of chemical peels rotated with epidermal levelling procedures. A peel programme takes about 6 weeks to complete and you may have moderate amounts of peeling for a few days after each peel. Most patients have their peel on a Friday and then return to work on the Monday afterwards. During the procedures you will have a mild burning sensation which feels like a sunburn.
If you need a deeper peel or dermabrasion performed by a surgeon you will have more significant peeling with some blistering after your procedure. You will be offered local anaesthetic before the procedure for pain control. After these stronger procedures you will need at least a week off work to recover.
During your consultation we will discuss the potential risks associated with Vitamin A programmes such as irritation and pigmentation. It is important to note that you may not use any Vitamin A products if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Ongoing sun protection is always recommended to prevent further skin damage. This is particularly important if you are using a Vitamin A serum as you will be at a higher risk of sun damage whilst using these products.
Skin care regimes take time to see visible results. Once you start a Vitamin A programme you will normally start to notice an improvement in the appearance and texture of your skin after 4-6 weeks. We can then review your progress at a follow up appointment.
After 3-4 months we can review your programme to see if you would benefit from adding a Vitamin B or C product to your regime or if you need a higher strength Vitamin A serum to get the best results.
Peel programmes can also be used to boost your skincare regime. The peels remove several layers of thickened/sun damaged skin over three sessions (ideally 2 weeks apart) providing you with fresher looking and feeling skin.
